Universal Voice of Humanity

Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) was honoured to host the Sayembara Deklamasi Puisi Artistik Remaja ASEAN, China and Russia 2026, a meaningful celebration of language, culture, and artistic expression that brought together young talents from Brunei, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, and Thailand.

The event was graced by distinguished guests, including YB Tuan Yuneswaran Ramaraj, Deputy Minister of National Unity, Bishop Rev. Dr. T. Jeyakumar, and Mr Naiyl Latypov, Ambassador of Russia to Malaysia, whose presence underscored the significance of promoting unity and cultural appreciation through the arts.

The programme began with a ceremonial flag procession, followed by inspiring addresses and a vibrant Dikir Barat performance by our very own Wesleyan students, setting the stage for an unforgettable celebration of heritage and creativity.

Centred on the theme “Universal Voice of Humanity,” each participating country captivated the audience through artistic poetry performances that reflected their unique cultures, traditions, and shared aspirations. Beyond the competition, the event became a platform for meaningful cultural exchange, reminding us that while our languages and traditions may differ, the values of humanity, peace, and understanding unite us all.

Congratulations to Malaysia for emerging as the Platinum Award (1st Place) winner with Universal Voice of Humanity, as well as to all participating countries for their outstanding performances. Every presentation was a beautiful reflection of creativity, passion, and national pride, making the celebration truly memorable.

We are also incredibly proud that the spirit of this event reached audiences beyond our campus through coverage by leading news outlets across Malaysia and the ASEAN region, including Bernama, Sin Chew Daily, Malay Mail, and various regional media platforms. This recognition not only celebrates the success of the programme but also highlights the importance of nurturing cultural appreciation, meaningful dialogue, and international friendship through the arts.

A special thank you to the talented students from the UiTM Faculty of Film, Theatre and Animation for their captivating guest performance, which added another memorable artistic highlight to the celebration. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to our honoured guests, judges, organisers, performers, teachers, students, and volunteers whose dedication made this international event a resounding success.

Together, we celebrated not only the beauty of poetry but also the enduring power of culture to build bridges, foster friendships, and inspire mutual respect across borders.
