Outward Bound – From Students to Leaders
The renowned Outward Bound School has been entrusted to be one of our education partners since the beginning of this year.
OBS fosters independence, leadership, and teamwork among students through adventurous and enjoyable outdoor activities. The program also emphasized positive attitudes and values, encouraging students to respond voluntarily and actively.
On 1 July, the program commenced with students and teachers assembling at the school. The day included checking into dorms, ice-breaking games, setting up tents, and discussions about trip expectations.
Day 2 began early with a workout and exercise session, followed by breakfast. The morning continued with a briefing on knotting and rafting near the beach, where students demonstrated teamwork by building their own rafts. The afternoon featured a kayaking lesson, during which students learned essential techniques and safety measures.
On Day 3, students set up tents and split into groups for cooking and rappelling. Despite initial fears, all students successfully completed the rappelling challenge. Evening activities included relaxing in the sea, a bonfire, and night guard duties.
Day 4 started with strong winds and heavy rain, delaying the morning activities. Once the weather improved, students resumed rappelling and trekking. The evening featured a BBQ dinner and group performances, showcasing the students’ efforts and creativity.
The final day began with the National Anthem and school anthem. Students stored their tents and had breakfast before holding discussions about their experiences. Each student received the Outward Bound Badge as a symbol of their achievement. The closing ceremony included certificate presentations by Mr. Carl and a speech by Dr. Lim.
Recent testimonials from students highlight how participation in Outward Bound was a life-changing experience. The program helped them grow both mentally and physically, returning with increased confidence and self-belief.
