Inter-School Public Speaking Competition 2024

On June 20th, Sri Kuala Lumpur School hosted its annual inter-school public speaking competition, supported by JM Education. This year’s event saw participation from 14 students from a mix of government, private, and international schools across the Klang Valley, including one student each from Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) and WMSKL (Private).

The competition started at 9:00 a.m., with participants delivering speeches on one of five topics provided in advance. The judging panel included Mr. Richard Pickersgill, Dean of the Pathways School at Trinity College, Melbourne, who served as the Chief Judge. He was accompanied by Mr. Teh Cheong Hua, Managing Director of JM Education, and Mr. Steven Tan, a voice artist and YouTuber. After the speeches, while the judges were scoring, the audience was entertained by a mini-concert from SriKL students.

Although the Wesley Methodist representatives did not win medals, they performed well, and the school expressed pride in their efforts. Congratulations were extended to all the winners.

The event wrapped up with a lunch for all attendees, with guests expressing intentions to return next year. SriKL takes pride in hosting this event annually, providing a valuable platform for students to develop and demonstrate their public speaking skills.
