A Legacy of Excellence on the Chessboard

Our Wesleyan chess team has long been recognised for their outstanding performances on the chessboard, consistently achieving success at district and state competitions. Today, we are incredibly proud to celebrate another significant milestone as our students excelled at the MSSM Chess Championship 2026, held from 6–12 June 2026 at Hotel Meritz, Miri, Sarawak.

Competing against the nation’s finest young chess players, our representatives showcased remarkable strategy, resilience, and composure, proving that dedication and perseverance continue to open doors to greater achievements.

These outstanding individual performances also contributed to remarkable team achievements, with the Under-15 Girls Team crowned National Champions and the Under-15 Boys Team securing a commendable Bronze Medal.

These accomplishments are the result of countless hours of training, determination, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. They are also a reflection of the strong culture of growth and perseverance that our chess programme continues to cultivate.

Adding to this remarkable achievement, Leong Ee Hern will also be representing his state at SUKMA 2026, another testament to his dedication and talent. We wish him every success in the competition and look forward to cheering him on as he competes among the nation’s best.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to our dedicated teachers and coaches — Pn Rafidah, Mdm Kumari, Pn Norhaslinda, Dr Wong, and Mdm Pushpam — whose guidance and encouragement have been instrumental in this journey. We also thank our parents and the entire Wesleyan community for their continuous support.
